  • I'm pretty sure it's just Trump breaking the world order and eroding the freedom of Americans.

When the Israel-Hamas war is over do you really think everything is going to go back to normal in the US and the rest of the world?

  • The Palestinian people deserve a lot of apologies from a lot of assholes on the internet that have monetized their suffering.

And a lot of people in the Arab world deserve an apology from the Ayatollah of Iran for using them as meat shields in their failed attempt to wipe Israel off the map.

  • I think Israel is foolish. They are protected by their international support and not viable on their own. Trump is unpredictable and nationalistic.

That's weird logic. If we're going with Trump being unpredictable, then it really doesn't matter what Israel does in terms of maintaining support from Trump.

And countries don't base foreign policy based on what teenagers on the internet want. They base it on interests. What has Israel done that goes against anyone's national interests? Iran is a thorn in everyone's side, and Hezbollah has been weakened and cut off from easy supply from Iran because Assad's regime is gone. It's not in anyone's interest for Iran to have nuclear weapons, and Israel has proven their capability in taking out Iran's air defenses. The Houthis are a problem for global trade and Trump isn't going to hit them as long as they keep to their deal and not hit US shipping.

So given everyone's interests most countries might wag their finger at Israel publicly for political reasons, but people in power know that if their people were taken hostage by terrorists, they'd do much the same thing as Israel has done. The US has become unreliable in dealing with the middle east (not really caring about Houthis attacking other country's shipping) so they need an ally in the region to keep Iran and their proxies in check. And Israel has demonstrated a lot of capability in that regard. So do you think countries are going to isolate Israel for the sake of a small group of protesters constantly shouting insane slogans?

  • The only way Russia can win is if Trump bails them out. Which is a possibility, but that would just be Trump breaking things.

  • They should just have Trump's dumbass UCW event end with a fight between Trump and the Ali Khamenei. Both are demented authoritarian old fools, and it would be funny to have these "tough guys" in a ring barely able to stand up before a punch is even thrown.

But they're both cowards that make others do violence for them so that'll never happen.

  • You're assuming Iran has competent leadership.

  • Well yeah atheism is a religion. You just don't believe it's a religion.

  • That's a lot of rationalization and excuses for why you won't speak out against the rampant racism within your group.

Here in Canada we're needing to create protest bubbles to prevent people from harassing Canadian Jews: https://globalnews.ca/news/11265909/protest-law-blocking-school-place-fo-worshp/

Look at the people in that image. They are protesting Canadian Jews because they're angry at Jews on the other side of the world. It's antisemitism.

We went through the same thing with the Antivaxxer Convy protests. Bunch of racist assholes back then were using their antivax bullshit as a reason to go out and harass random Asian people on the street.

This movement is no different. And how effective do you think your movement will in influencing government policy when the government is busy making policies to prevent your group from engaging in antisemitic attacks?

The point of this group is obviously not to change anything, and it's turning into a hate group because no one within the group is speaking out against the antisemitism. Look at the image in the article I linked to. By their actions (harassing Canadian Jews at a synagogue), they are antisemitic people and how is anyone supposed to distinguish between that group of antisemitic assholes and any other "pro-Palestinian" protest? Given what I see posted here daily I'm doubting there is anyone that actually cares about Palestinians, it's just an excuse to express hatred and fit in with the group expressing hatred. We've seen this kind of shit happen before.

In Canada, our grandparents fought a war against antisemitc assholes, so you aren't going to intimidate very many Canadians into joining your cause when it's entangled with antisemitsm and violence. If you're looking the other way about antisemitism in your movement, you're in a hate group and people will oppose it. If you really believed in your cause you wouldn't feel the need to use violence to impose your views on others.

  • Yeah with how effective drones have been in Ukraine (especially in hitting the Russian Navy) I kinda doubt they'll have the capability. I feel like Taiwan is probably developing the capability to mass produce drones right now. They most definitely have the technology. Amphibious invasions are really hard to pull off, and China doesn't have a lot of naval experience. And nobody has ever done it with a thousand drone boats in the water.

And yup, authoritarians do stupid things with their military, we saw that already with Putin's invasion of Ukraine. So the question is, how stupid is Xi Jinping? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

  • NATO is a defensive alliance so the only thing a US veto would do is prevent Ukraine from joining NATO. But that wouldn't happen until the war is over, and it doesn't look like that's going to happen until Russia's economy collapses. At that point Russia won't be a threat for awhile so kick the US out, add Ukraine as a member since Ukraine would be a stronger ally than the US anyway.

  • We already know all of that and work is already being done to improve the alliance among non-US NATO members. The US is already considered non-reliable and the only benefit of the US being a member is that it puts some doubt in the minds of adversaries long enough to build up the militaries of the non-US members.

  • Israel, Iran, China, and Taiwan are all outside the scope of NATO.

Canada, Greenland, and most of the EU do fall under NATO protection though. It's a defensive alliance with well defined boundaries, member countries may have interests in other parts of the world, but since none of Israel, Iran, China, or Taiwan are NATO members it's not something NATO deals with. Unless one of those countries were to attack NATO of course.

Russia is in no shape to make war on Europe right now, they have their hands full with just Ukraine, and face economic collapse. Iran is in a similar situation. Trump has stopped his 51st state talk, but he's insane so you never know. China invading Taiwan? Trump is weak (he only talks tough) so you never know. But China is authoritarian and as we've seen of late authoritarian regimes don't seem to be doing well running military campaigns so it's possible they don't even have the capability of invading Taiwan.

  • Antisemitism is on the rise because people like you do a lot of victim blaming. Attacking Jews because the internet propaganda made you angry is not justified. It's not happening "because of how the Jews act" or whatever rationalization you're attempting here. Antisemtism happens because antisemitism is being spread on the internet without being challenged because people don't want to upset their friends in the anti-Israel movement.

  • You're ranting about a religious group being religious? Your atheist religion has made you lose perspective a little bit.

  • Trump can keep on saying he has all the cards but we all know he's a few cards short of a deck.

  • Yeah I generally prefer dairy products coming from a farm as close to me as possible. Dairy from another country just seems insane. Before the 51st state nonsense maybe I'd buy cheese from the US, but now I don't want anything made in the US.

  • So Ukraine should send those weapons back to Israel then? I thought sending weapons to Israel was bad?

Also what do you think Ukraine should fight the Russians with... activist slogans?

  • Well there is counter tarrifs on some US goods we'd hypothetically pay... if we were still buying US products, that is.

  • Yeah pretty much. Which is a little disturbing because with the waters so muddied, it makes it difficult to know when these things are really happening.

It's already a problem when you say a country is fascist because the reply is often "well people call everything fascist now." And they aren't wrong.

Soon it will be "people call everything a genocide now." The power of these words are getting diluted by attention seekers. It's becoming a word that no longer grabs attention anymore.
