I'd disagree. The world powers are more at risk of direct conflict than the founding empires hoped. Nationalism, militarism, and capitalism induced pain make major wars that fuck shit up more likely.

That rhetoric has always pissed me off for the same reasons as Americans not understanding why fascism took Europe in the 30s. Nowhere is special and nobody should think "it won't happen here."

The US is impossible to invade. Trump dying is the only way out, no elections or help from outside. Even in the US, with our near free speech absolution, neolibs were supportive as cops cracked down hard on peaceful civil disobedience. If that's what American liberals were willing to do when bought by Israeli lobbyists, this makes perfect sense for the British version of the Democratic party.
