It is not physical money being given to Ukraine, the amount of money mentioned is the worth of already outdated military hardware being given, which would have been decommissioned in the near future anyway. And Ukraine is actually paying for this in IOU (the lend lease programme). With all things considered, helping Ukraine is bang for the buck.
This is what people may not want to hear, but even before Trump 2.0, Pentagon did express concerns of dwindling stocks, especially if the US wants to keep China in check. It is easier to blame Trump, but this time it may not be his fault. As the article mentioned, there has been change of priorities (not that I support Israel).
Those who support China (and Russia) because they are against American imperialism, are just supporting another imperialists.
The CCP is a pretty pragmatic organisation. They plan long term with decades in mind. Not to mention that US' internal whackery is just easily handing over the torch to China this century. Unfortunately, it is hard to see how CCP will collapse. It might even take the next century for that to happen.
China: We came here to rescue you. Please do not resist.
I think everyone saw issues will happen 10 years ago, when Germany took excessive amount of refugees. Though on the one hand, way before the migration crisis, Europe had been criticised for not taking in both migrants and refugees, many of whom died being denied entry. You can never please both sides when it comes to migration.
Serious question, why are Venetians against Bezos' wedding? Did he do anything that offended the city before?
In social media, Russian bots pretty much defend their online disinformation as revenge for stoking color revolutions. But I say to them, even if that is the case, what is wrong with promoting democracy? The Russian disinformation campaign is the reverse by stoking non-democratic ideals.
A non-German becoming leader of Germany
Wait, I've seen this...
The RMTU in Britain has also been phenomenonal. Their leaders are natural public speakers and could easily shut down criticisms and biases from the media trying to grill them and their strikes.
The old labour became a victim of its own success. As wealth increased, they have had to court the growing, largely moderate middle class in the past thirty years. Although now that the middle class is shrinking but wealth inequality widens, it is time for the left to return to its working class roots.
Only because of de-industrialisation that began since the 1970s and 1980s without offering alternatives. There is a reason for the rhetoric that "the working class have been abandoned" exists.
The French always have the balls. During the yellow jacket protests couple of years back, electric company workers have gave away free electricity as part of protest.
I saw it and I was like "Quds? The Iranian special forces?"
The Ukrainians were far from cutting off Crimea in 2022. They barely made it like 5-10 kilometres? And unfortunately, the area they recaptured is being slowly grounded away by Russian counterattacks in the past two years. The Ukrainians were hoping that Russia at the time haven't learned their lesson and could replicate Ukrainian rapid offensive in Kharkiv in autumn of 2021.
The surprise Ukrainian offensive into Kursk proved you can hide your intentions. It isn't like Ukraine haven't learned their lesson beforehand. Speaking of which, the incursion wasn't told to the White House either when Biden was president.
What is less conspicuous than sleeping right next to your enemy.
I don't think it's because Trump is a Russian asset which is why they haven't told the White House, but because Ukrainians have had bad experience with their plans being leaked before. The 2022 Ukrainian offensive failed because the Russian knew they were coming, and everyone including the media and their mothers shouted it across the rooftops for weeks. Back then, I thought "isn't this a bad idea to report it on the media"? But then I am an armchair analyst so I guess the Ukrainians and Bidem knew what they were doing (turns out they didn't). Since then, Ukrainians choose to hide their intentions.
Poillievre flirted with Trumpian rhetoric though.
